But as a mark of respect I never asked her about that. And she also didn’t ask me anything like that.  But still I was feeling lonely and I shared different things with her. So did she with me. One evening I went to a temple where I lit candle and had little meditation. And I wished and questioned why I never find someone who has same amount of love as me. I prayed for a change in my love life.

From that evening onwards, we both used to chat with one another. I lighted her emotion everytime she talked about her ordeals. Same thing she also did for me. I went to that extent that whenever I opened the facebook, I wished to find her online. Who knew she would also be wishing the same thing to me. On several occasions I got offline out of depression and frustration when I didn’t find her online. I prayed almighty before even getting online so that she would be right there online. It’s been a couple of days later that we exchanged our phone numbers.

 The first call of course, I made. Initially I thought for a second before calling her. I wondered what I would tell her. Should there be any special things to tell her, or rather go easy. But never did I feel nervous like other guys. I even had seen some guys who went pale while interacting with girls for the first time. Within a moment I thought I must appear normal and original as what I’m. Honestly, I had only seven rupees as balance in my phone. The first time I heard her voice, it was so sweet that even I would say honey was not even that sweeter as her voice was.  

We used to talk on regular basis particularly in night; talking with girlfriend during nightime is something that gives extra excitement and happiness. Sometimes talk seemed never ending and that last for six to seven hours. This kind of tendency went for almost a month. She told me her exam was around the corner and she was pursuing journalism, a good subject for me but seemed not her cup of tea. She reasoned me that she couldn’t go to give her exam as center was too far. “Is she calling me for her exam only or she has other idea?” I pondered, but yet I also equally wanted to meet her as soon as possible.

And going alone so far seemed unhealthy considering recent increased report of attacks or assaults on women. She was stubborn I knew her from the very first beginning of our relationship. I had also no option as I was doing some freelance works for my clients. Again then I decided to cancel my work to head for Kolkata and thought it was only a matter of few weeks; once her exam gets over, I will return. It was the month of January Delhi was entirely under grip of cold waves. Under no circumstances people take bath during winter in the capital but I was the first one to enter into the bathroom to take bath.

People truly say when people fall in love, they can easily be known by their behavioral changes. I was no different and not an exception as well. I began to dream different things; in each of my dreams she was right before me. Before my departure I shopped few things; excitement, tension and numerous other things flowed into my mind like gushing water. I wondered different things; one silly incident of my friend got reminded to me; it was also the incident which was too common to happen in this technology advanced world. How eager my friend was to meet and continue relationship with the girl he talked but had never seen. However, both of them discovered differences existing between them on their first meeting. And they finally came to conclusion that none of them could ever be sacrificed for one another.

Same thing was exactly repeatedly coming to my mind. “Would she really accept me on discovering my true personality at our first meet? Or would I have the same feeling on meeting her?” Sometimes carrying this in my mind I laid on bed to sleep but again I opened the eyes out of excitement and again it faded away slowly thinking ‘what’ if she rejects me. Initially, I was quite unsure if I would be able to make the trip. I was having very less amount of money and traveling of course without enough money meant inviting unwanted trouble.

MY GOLDEN COLLEGE DAYS

It was horrible night, the more I thought about her, the more frustrated I became. Nevertheless, my mind and my heart just said, “How bigger fool are you?” Fool, but for what? This could be the question you would be surely wondering. How stupid I’m, without telling you the obvious reason, I started describing my emotion.

Well, let’s go to a couple of years back; those were the days when I used to go to college. In a number of five hundreds college girls, my eyes went just for one, the only one whose every move made me feel sensation. I won’t tell you her physical figure but yes, she was the most down to earth lady that I ever met. I began acquiring more attraction and feelings towards her but the way she interacted with me, one can say there was definitely something between us.

I had a bad habit of spiting. Everytime I walked passing through garbage or unhygienic path, I spited. One day while passing through the market, I spited looking spiteful cow dung; she quickly came closer to me with authority and told me not to spite. I had nothing to tell her besides saying ‘sorry’. She never ever let anyone of us to throw biscuit packets or covers of chocolate anywhere near roadside. When we argue with her jokingly, she said, “Look, if you and me litter roads and continue to do so, others would also follow us and that would surely pollute the surrounding”.

She was very helpful as per me. I could say it because she came all way to help me when I needed it most. I was quite disorganized in class and notes that were given us to write by our lecturers I didn’t maintain properly. In such cases, she often snatched my notebooks and jotted down notes for me. Even during the time of admission she would always take care of me, asking me if I had any problems in submitting college fees. Once I had to borrow three thousands rupees which later on, I gave it back to her. It was not something that I didn’t help her too. I also crossed thousands miles when it came to helping her when she needed.

It was the time when we got deadlines of submitting the class projects. She suddenly fell sick and she asked all others except me for help. However, all those fellows were never in a position to help her. And why should they help her as she stood first in first year. I knew it but I didn’t tell anything to her. In fact she required photos and notes for the project. I thought it was the opportunity to help her and without thinking for a second, I planned to bring all those notes. Same things I exactly did as planned. It was a sight of joy for me to see her happy smile. So this was what I did for her.

Once college got over, those feelings also got over like the cold winter season. In the past five years, I had never been in a true relation. The only reason was my stupidity. And it was all my trust; I have a problem that whoever accepted me in a relationship I put everything on it. You can say total surrender. But, may be, it was my bad luck that whoever, entered into relation with me proved undeserving of me, considering the kind of tendencies and natures they exhibited.

Sometimes, I felt lonely; so lonely that I wished of someone in my life with whom I could share laughter, happiness and funs. Again deep inside of my heart a voice came out telling me things I thought were all illusion. There was never a concept like a ‘true love’. May be not for me; different kinds of thoughts cropped up in me. Whatever challenges, struggles and difficulties did I face; I couldn’t share them with anyone but with myself only.

The only option available to me to feel ease was chatting with my long lost friends in facebook. Every one of them had a good luck I should say. Because I believed it was not that easier to find good and reliable girls. May be all of them had shares of some luck that they could find girls whom they had been all doing well. What could I do, since half of their times of the day was spent chatting with their girlfriends. They hardly got time to give attention to their male friends. And I was one of their male friends.

There has been no single occasion where one went leaving other. With passage of time, both of them realized they have to go towards different direction as per demand of the situation they were. Before parting from one another, they discussed all their secrets and promised many things.

“Satish, I know you have given me your helping hands during all my trying circumstances, so tomorrow you are leaving me here in the village. I’m very sad that I couldn’t give you anything except my love. I wish May almighty help you in realizing all your dreams. I don’t know for whatever reason I couldn’t have the fate you have. I fully know you would become an established person one day and you will definitely be coming home carrying prestige, reputation, honor and love as well. So, if tomorrow I die, please help my children and show them good path showing your example,” Said Arun in an emotional tone.”

“Hey, what are you saying? No need to show such emotion ok! I’m gonna nowhere right; I have been with you and will be with you forever. Tell me what happened to you today!” saying Satish shook him and gave a warm hug. “Nothing, just wondering how I have to wait for again five years to see you here, even I don’t know what I will have become by then,” he further added. Next day Satish went to City for his further study after shedding tears while leaving Arun the only true friend he has ever had in his life. The fate began showing signs during all those long five years!

Arun had a marriage right two years after Satish left him. He sent him a letter mentioning everything about his wedding. Satish used to reply him saying he would come and joke with his new ‘Babhi’. It has been a long time no mutual correspondence was going on between the two. Satish was so occupied with his research works that he had little time to keep in touch. Here Arun had to work for entire day to look after his family comprised of his two kids, wife and his ailing father. He lost his mother when he was twelve years old. That year was a year of drought; crops failed to flourish and he had to borrow money from others. Day after day his Dad’s health was deteriorating, it was very hard to find job during those rainy days in the village. One day he met a man known as ‘Setji’. The man knew his condition and took no time to convince him about his drug business. He was offered certain amount of money and the only work he had to do was to keep drugs supplied by some group of people and sell them to others. Finally, he after contemplating for sometime accepted the offer.

That evening he all narrated to his wife in the evening. His wife refused it and told him to return the cash. She knew once he starts the business, he would also be addicted to it. Few days later his father passed away. Now all those people involved in the business kept visiting to his home which was not tolerated by his wife. There were always quarrels between both him and his wife. Whatever his wife earns, he takes half earned money to buy drugs to keep him satisfied. Out of frustration and depression, one day his wife took her two children to far away to a relative. While returning both the kids were crying looking their only mother leaving them behind. They both followed for some distance and her relative took away. On asking she told her relative that she had some urgent work to do and once the works get finished, he would come back to take away her children. On that evening she put kerosene oil all over to her body and burnt down herself. Looking her doing so, some neighbors rushed towards her and put off the fire. They took her to nearby hospital. Soon later her drug addicted husband reached to hospital. Next day she passed away leaving her two poignant kids behind.

 One day both the kids sat under their father’s lap. They were under bright moonlight, cool breeze kept blowing. One of the kids asked his father about the twinkling star in the sky, saying, “Dad, what are these high in the sky twinkling blue, white, red and green?” He said these were the mothers of many little children like them watching them play from the sky. One day Arun went to hills to cultivate Jhum cultivation. Staying there for a couple of weeks, he fell seriously ill. One of the villagers gave him 1500 Rupees to cure his illness. But he, instead of purchasing medicine, bought drugs and some days later he also passed away. All of a sudden these two kids became orphans. Was it their sins done in previous birth or simply got irresponsible parents for their orphanage?

This year Satish successfully passed out of his course and got a lucrative job. He thought he would purchase a new lifetime gift for Arun and his wife from the very first salary he would draw. However, before that someone told him what happened to Arun and his wife and their two little children. He even knew the message that some of people in the village were looking for people who take care of orphans. Having heard the information, Satish rushed back to village and called up an urgent meeting. In the meeting he almost abused everyone about the incident. He said, “Had you all been helpful, Arun and his wife would not have done these things, shame on all of you!” saying he wiped out his slow dropping of tears. Thereafter, he started taking care of those two kids like his own children and finally established them who went on leading successful lives unlike their parents.
